A shipping container converted into a casita in Shoal Creek needed to do a lot with very little square footage. A queen horizontal Murphy bed in Onyx was the right call, a near-black finish that leans into the industrial bones of the space rather than fighting them. Gold bar pulls across every door and drawer add just enough warmth to keep it from feeling cold.
The Velar profile fits the aesthetic perfectly, flat-front and frameless, no decorative detailing that would feel out of place in a converted container. The drop-down desk deploys to the right of the bed face so the casita functions as a proper workspace during the day, with closed lower cabinetry keeping the small space organized and uncluttered.
Upper cabinetry runs the full width of the system, pushing storage to the walls and leaving the floor clear. In a space this tight, that matters. Stow the bed and it’s a compact but fully functional studio. Deploy it and guests have a real bedroom without the casita losing anything permanent to a bed frame.
