The biggest decision comes down to your ceiling height and how the room is used. Vertical beds are the most common choice they fold up against a tall wall and take up minimal floor space. Horizontal beds work better in rooms with lower ceilings or when a queen-size footprint works better along a longer wall. Both can be configured with cabinetry, desks, and custom finishes.

Folds up against the wall lengthwise
The vertical configuration is the most common choice for a reason it tucks neatly into any room with standard 8-foot ceilings or higher, and it opens to a familiar sleeping position. Available in Twin, Full, and Queen, with optional desk, cabinets, and lighting upgrades.

Horizontal Murphy Bed
Folds up against the wall widthwise
When ceiling height is limited or when a Queen footprint works better along a longer wall the horizontal configuration is the answer. It opens to a wider sleeping area and sits lower on the wall, making it a natural fit for rooms where a vertical bed simply won't work.

Most Murphy bed builds include flanking cabinetry bookcases, wardrobes, or storage towers that frame the bed and make the whole wall feel intentional. We also build standalone cabinetry for any room in the house, using the same materials and construction as our beds.
